Joint Diseases and Related Surgery (formerly known as
Turkish Journal of Arthroplasty and Arthroscopic Surgery) is the official
publication of the Turkish Joint Diseases Foundation (TEVAK).
The journal welcomes original clinical and empirical scientific research
articles, reviews and case reports on joint diseases and surgery,
arthroplasty, arthroscopy, general orthopedics, traumatology and
rehabilitation written in Turkish or English. Manuscripts submitted to the
journal must be original studies to attract readers' interest. Evident
contribution to the field, correctness of the results, clear explanation of
the methodology enabling to reproduce the results independently are
important.
The journal is published three times a year.
Statements and opinions expressed in the articles are those of the
author(s) and not necessarily those of the editors and the publisher.
Material appearing in the journal is covered by copyright.
In order to be published, submitted material must be approved by the
editorial board. A peer review will be made by at least two referees and the
editorial board has the right to accept, ask for revision, or reject the
manuscript.

Preparation of the manuscript: The manuscript should be prepared in accordance with
The
Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals - International
Committee of Medical Journal Editors (www.icmje.org).
Use double-spacing. Number pages consecutively beginning with the title page. Each part
of the manuscript should begin on a new page in the following sequence: title page,
abstract, text, acknowledgments, references, tables with titles, legends to figures.
Title Page: Title page should include the following: a) The title of the article which should
be concise but informative; b) a short title of at most 35 letters; c) full names of each author
with highest academic degrees and institutional affiliations; d) name(s) of the department(s)
and institution(s); e) name, address, phone, fax number and e-mail address of the author
responsible for correspondence.
Abstract: The second page should have an abstract of minimum 150 and maximum 250
words. The abstract should state the purpose of the study, main findings and the principal
conclusions in separate headings of Objectives, Materials (Patients) and methods, Results,
and Discussion. The abstract should contain the title.
Text: The text of the article should be divided into sections with the headings Introduction,
Materials (Patients) and Methods, Results and Discussion. The text should not Exceed 6
pages. The text should not include any information on the institutions of the authors.
The introduction should state the purpose of the article and summarize the rationale for the
study. Give only strictly pertinent references and limit this section to one page.
The Materials (Patients) and Methods should describe the selection of the observational or
experimental subjects clearly. Give references to established methods including statistics.
When reporting experiments on human subjects indicate whether the procedures were
followed in accordance with the ethical standards. Describe statistical methods in adequate
detail. Give details on randomization.
Present Results in logical sequence in the text, tables and illustrations. Data in the text
should not be repeated in the tables or illustrations.
Emphasize the new and important aspects of the study and present your conclusions in the
Discussion section. Relate the observations to ofher relevant studies.
References: Number references consecutively in the order in which they are first
mentioned in the text. Unpublished observations and personal communications should not
be used. Use no more than 20 references unless necessary. References will strictly be
controlled and the author may be asked to provide the full-text of any of the references.
They should be organized according to the following forms:
Article in journal: The reference should include the full last name and initials of the first
and middle names of all authors, title of the article, abbreviated title of the journal
according to the style used by the Index Medicus, year, volume, and inclusive page

Chapter in book: The reference should include the full last name and initials of the first
and middle names of all authors, title of the chapter, name of the editors, title of the book,

Book: The reference should include the full last name and initials of the first and middle

Tables should be numbered consecutively in the order of mention in the text . Each table
should include a brief title on the same sheet.
Illustrations and figures should be professionally drawn and photographed.
